Wow, restaurant portions getting bigger and bigger. But eating out is fun! And it's a part of life as a family and community member. So how does one come away without eating a whole day's worth of calories (or more!) in one sitting. Here are some tips and tricks you might find handy. I lost 150 pounds and have kept it off for years using these and other life-changing strategies. Email me to learn more.

1) Share your entree with a friend or family member. Restaurants will always bring you an extra plate.
2) Order seltzer water with a lemon instead of the soda or glass of wine.
3) Order an appetizer as your main dish; they are often as big as a dinner, and sometimes there are healthy options.
4) When ordering Indian or Chinese dishes to share, use the small appetizer plate to eat from.
5) Remember that salads, although they seem healthier, sometimes have the most calories (due to nuts, cheese, croutons, dressings).
6) Swap your sides... ask for extra veggies instead of the potatoes or rice.
And my favorite 7) When you order, ask the waiter to put half the entree in a to-go box beforehand! That way the food is out of sight during dinner, and ready for you the next day.
